Previews: If to embark on a "Smooth" is Laura Morante

Marzia Apice

Presented at the first edition of the Rome International Film Festival section Alice in the city, "Smooth" is the second feature by Claudio Antonini, Roman young director with a background as a former professional footballer.
The music throughout the film belongs to the popular genre of smooth, emblem of brightness, but also of melancholy and simplicity.
the smooth well-suited as a backdrop to the story of Monica (Laura Morante) and Raul (Umberto Morelli), respectively, mother and son, constantly challenge each other.
Monica continues the musical tradition of his dead father, singing in the evening in the dance halls. But is not happy either at work or their own love life is completely confusing and superficial. Raul, who is twelve years old but has already very mature, he is tired of seeing her mother at the mercy of men are always different, would then find the perfect companion.
The perfect candidate would be the professor Medrano (Antonio Catania) who teaches music at his school. But the meeting between the two will not have the desired effect.
The soundtrack accompanies the film all the images, often becoming the main protagonist. Laura Morante is involved in many dance hall-style ditty, though, to be honest, its sophisticated image (despite the help of makeup and costumes ...) is still far from representing the real singer smooth. Bravi
all child actors engaged in complex attempt to explain the large (which evidently have forgotten!) how hard they become adults.
"Smooth," in theaters March 29, tells a simple story and delicate good feelings and little and big disappointments in a difficult relationship between a mother and son still immature already too grown for her age.

"Saturno contro" rather than a Big Chill Italian

Franco Cicero

Zodiac
The opposition of Saturn, as you know anyone involved in astrology, is fraught with omens negative. In fact, the narrative leap in the new film by Ferzan Ozpetek is linked to a sudden death. As was the film that, six years ago, opened to the director of Turkish ports to the general public: "The Ignorant Fairies."
But this time the sudden death strikes a central character, which touches introduce the story with his voiceover. Also, unlike almost all movies Ozpetek (from "Hamam - The turkish bath" and "Harem suaré" to "Facing Windows" and "Sacred Heart"), there is a female figure above that discovers new ancient truth or reality. Instead
in "Saturno contro" significantly outweigh the chorus of the whole and the present. The tragedy unpredictable flows into the pain a community of dear friends. But the elaboration of mourning for those who came early to miss goes beyond the repetition of the Italian "Big Chill". Rather, it is the exaltation of a bond of friendship which collectively strengthens even if the relationship between the single individuals (eg, a wife discovers that her husband cheats on her) can be broken.
Ozpetek, quarantottenne, for thirty years in Italy, now in its sixth film in a decade, his camera moves with absolute mastery and obvious pleasure between the dynamics of the group of friends in Rome today that coexist quite naturally women and men , straight and gay, singles and married couples, and young ultraquarantenni. And his signature is highlighted copyright in precise sequences, like the meeting between the wife and husband with her lover, or the final game of ping pong that echoes the court of "Blow Up" by Antonioni. Again, the merits of formal care is loyal Gianfilippo Corticelli Patrizio Marone photography and editor. While the contribution is unknown Music "Neffa" (John Pellino).
The screenplay, written - as is tradition - along with the same Ozpetek Gianni Romoli (that is, as usual, the producer of the film with Tilde Corsi) is very topical, perhaps beyond the same intentions original: you can see easily, in fact, I say, or references to zealous' treatment. Sign, however, not a commercial cunning, but a testament to how certain issues are present in everyday life.
The really nice thing, however, the film is proof of all the performers.
Ozpetek confirmed to be a sensitive director of actors, very precise in drawing their personality and offer of dialogue very believable. In addition, this time turns out to be a skilled picker a cast which are made coexist perfectly actors from television, like Ambrosia (the most surprising, in a difficult role), Luca Argentero (now reliable and robust in that "at home"), Michael Thomas (the real potential) and Lunetta Savino that leaves its mark in some of "color" with the inevitable Serra Yilmaz ("free range" fellow director) and extraction stage with performers such as the emergence Diberti expert Luigi Filippo Timi, up to those celebrated cinematic experience, as Stefano Accorsi and Margherita Buy (renewed and convincing, though called upon to play roles already experienced), Pierfrancesco Favino (in the clear), Ennio Fantastichini (with sensitive intelligence), the happily recovered Isabella Ferrari and sore, very effective, Milena Vukotic.
All praise to join a collective.

Dark Yellow Dress Shoes

Exchange of cradle-to-Ficarra and Picone

Marzia Apice

On 7 and 8 are just numbers, without meaning or importance. And if they were much more? We
in Palermo: a stormy night in 1975, because of these two simple numbers, something happens in a clinic in a position to upset the future lives of two babies, more than thirty years later, although seemingly different as day and night, discover that they have shared much more than really believe that.
extraordinary example of Italian comedy transplanted in our day, "On 7 and 8" is the new movie signed by a new trio, the couple Ficarra & Picone and Giambattista Avellino.
The two comedians in Sicily, as well as directors of the film also stars actors, create a set of hilarious gags in perfect balance with each other delicate tones, which also leaves room for the laughter to feeling and reflection.
The viewer is accompanied with great light throughout the flow of the film in a first human journey, in which, thanks to well-constructed story, the pace remains constant and the characters are delineated by a characterization strong that makes them effective and true. All
always respecting the now famous style of Ficarra & Picone, extravagant and extremely well together duo that has accustomed us to a comic register for spontaneous fun and never forced.
final observation: in addition to convincing director, is really worthy of praise for the cast of the film, formed by the likes of Arnoldo Foa, Remo Girone, Tony Sperandeo and Andrea Tidona.
"On 7 and 8" is a good example of the Italian cinema of talent that unfortunately often hidden, staying for a long time away from our rooms.

Asbestos As A Cause Of Lymphoma

With "The Tree of Life" back Aronofsky

Marzia Apice

will surely divide audiences and critics, "The Fountain - The Fountain," Darren Aronofsky's third film, arrives in cinemas from 16 March, after a long gestation.
It seems that the director had the idea behind the film back in 1999 while sitting at a table in a restaurant, and that has romantically pinned on a napkin as not to forget.
Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz (companion of the director) are faced with different characters, even if in the end always interpret the same role. The actors are good and expressive, dignified but not supported by a story that turns out to be pretentious and not up to talking about issues like the meaning of life and death.
The plot unfolds around three times to tell a man's desperate attempt to save the woman he loves. First, we are in Spain of the sixteenth century: the warrior Thomas, to protect their queen, who seeks the Fountain of Youth, according to Mayan legend, should give immortality.
Then you need today, in which the warrior becomes Tommy Creo, a scientist who is committed day and night to find a treatment that can cure the cancer that is killing his wife. Finally, Tommy turns to Tom, an astronaut Twenty-sixth century, in a spaceship that looks like a soap bubble, travels through space in search of its truth. More
it goes on in the movie, most everything is mixed and unclear boundaries takes. The deep message of undying love, serenity in facing death, the possibility of a new lease of life loses its power because images contained in a cauldron of cold and too disconnected with each other to be truly effective. The public loves technology
find bread for their teeth, since it was the largest deployment of special effects used throughout the film. To appreciate also the choice to cure a lot of the costumes and to distinguish past, present and future through a certain diversity of colors. Film
sometimes convoluted at times banal, too pompous and perhaps not as common as would have liked the director, "The Fountain - The Fountain" is not convincing to the end and, after "Requiem for a Dream" (2000) the expectation that surrounded Aronofsky has unfortunately been disappointed.

Small Estate Affidavit Canada

Borat, a long candid camera

Marzia Apice

the trash, you know, like many. Just as irresistibly attract the nonconformity, the rudeness, the ruthlessness, the cynicism.
All this is "Borat" with a little more.
The film, directed by Larry Charles and created by the vivid imagination of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (known for having created the character of Ali G, which gives its name to the fun show on the air in England and America), has divided the public and critical in large fans or detractors of the now famous authentic (fake) Kazakh reporter Borat Sagdiyev.
left for the United States to shoot a documentary about American customs and traditions and to raise awareness of Kazakhstan, Borat change his plans during construction, as soon discovers that Pamela Anderson on TV.
From New York, always accompanied obese producer, the suitcase cardboard chicken and Kazakhstan, he decided to cross on an unlikely bus across America to get to California, to kidnap the beloved, bring to Kazakhstan and then take her hand in marriage, crowning his dream of love.
may be an original idea (especially in terms of production) create a fake documentary on the road with (unsuspecting) players, taken from the street as witnesses to the grotesque absurdity of Borat and at the same time, unaware of the contradictions of the American leaders way of life.
misogyny, anti-Semitism, discrimination, malice oozing from every minute of the film. But do not scratch, do not hurt. Maybe make you smile the many embarrassing situations, sometimes a laugh. In the long run perhaps bored.
Why, in all probability, drawing aside the veil of the irreverent comedy, there is not much more to discover, or burning social issues to be analyzed under the lens of the politically incorrect.
Let us say frankly, a candid camera for a period of 82 minutes can not get tired, especially when the rhythm, the comic verve, the flashes of genius tend to decline gradually to proceed with the vision of the film.
And in this "exhaustion" of the film has probably played an important role the obvious choice of dubbing, a necessity given the fact that in Italy the public is not very accustomed to reading subtitles. Without detracting from the professionalism of Tonino Accolla, dubbing director, and the extraordinary talent to teach Pino, Italian voice of Borat, perhaps never as in this case, would have to respect the original language.
Borat is a movie to watch, but do not forget the enormous hype that supports it. The idea of \u200b\u200bthe movie is good and has some originality, but the decision of the production company not to carry out a follow-up do not think there will be despair too much.
How to say: good thing too.
